Many people who meet terrazzo on a daily basis while climbing the stairs of their building in most cases do not think about what material they are dealing with, seeing in it simply concrete, more or less experienced over time, and adopting its present form as the final appearance, and in the case of damage, inability to make any supplementary repairs by filling defects and cracks with material similar or identical to the rest of the floor. Unfortunately, during the renovation of buildings, the people responsible for choosing the method of repair and the material used, as the only sensible or the cheapest solution, decide to cover the terrazzo with terracotta. Of course, there are cases that due to poor execution of terrazzo flooring, it is not sufficiently resistant to mechanical damage, crumbles spontaneously, or simply due to insufficient surface finish, because, as you know, the technology at the time when these floors were made was quite limited, which made the aggregate it is not exposed, and in these floors it is probably the most important issue. Due to such factors, it becomes a symbol of ugliness :)  in the building and of course it is understandable that everyone would like to do something about it, like cover the whole thing above with great looking terracotta, some kind of carpet, or even colored resin or paint, such cases are also. However, before starting this type of activity, it is worth considering whether it is really worth it. A sensible solution is to perform a grinding test, which will show us the best we can get from our floor (we provide this service for free).

When considering the renovation of the floor, it is necessary to mention its durability  terrazzo, which in the buildings that survived the war lived to a very old age, but still retained their character, and the degree of destruction or wear of the surface of such floors can be compared to the floors of the 80's or 90's. The reason for such a small difference in wear is the durability of these floors, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about other types of surfaces, which are a rather temporary type of surface finish and you have to take into account that sooner or later they will have to be replaced. But that is only one aspect of such a comparison. You could also say here about surface maintenance, repairing any damage, or just about the daily care of such surfaces.
